Breathe in, Give Back: How our Sponsorship Brought Toddler Yoga Back to the Mat

When a local wellness instructor announced her popular toddler yoga program was on pause indefinitely with no community sponsor to help cover costs, parents in Paris, Maine, let out a collective sigh — and not the meditative kind.
Those sighs, however, quickly turned into ones of relief with news that Consulting By Numbers would sponsor a month of free classes.
After offering weekly sessions for free all winter, Savannah Martin of Three Eyed Raven wrote on Facebook that the program had become financially unsustainable. Participation plummeted once a small fee was introduced, confirming what she feared: cost was a barrier.
That post caught the attention of Carissa Daniels, founder of Maine-based business and nonprofit advisers, Consulting By Numbers. Carissa and her small team of advisers support dozens of small businesses and nonprofits through financial consulting, grant writing, strategic planning, marketing and more.
“I thought it was tragic,” Carissa said. “Savannah was charging only a small fee per kid, but even that was too much for some families. It broke my heart. These classes are good for toddlers, but they’re also good for moms — especially moms in rural Maine who might be feeling isolated.”
Making A Difference Through Sponsorship
With Mental Health Awareness Month on the horizon, the Consulting By Numbers team stepped in to make sure local families could return to the mat for the month of May, completely free of charge.
Upcoming classes: May 19 and 26 at 9 a.m. at Moore Park, 59 High St., South Paris, Maine.
“There are no words to tell you how much your generosity means to this program and the families,” Three Eyed Raven shared in another post, thanking the Consulting By Numbers team.
The toddler classes are filled with movement, breathwork, and play to help kids and caregivers learn body awareness and emotional regulation — skills that often go untaught, especially in rural regions.
Three Eyed Raven also leads weekly adaptive yoga sessions for students with disabilities, another example of how the business gives back to the community by promoting accessibility and inclusion through movement. At Consulting By Numbers, supporting our community is also a core value.
Supporting our Communities Together
The partnership between Three Eyed Raven and Consulting By Numbers is a powerful reminder of what happens when small businesses show up to support one another.
At Consulting By Numbers, giving back isn’t just a philosophy; it’s part of our business model.
“I had a mentor years ago tell me he always gives back 10 percent of his profit to charities, and it inspired me to fold that into my practice as well,” Carissa said.
That same mentor instilled the importance of giving back as a small business owner and a dedicated community member. He taught me to build in this type of contribution from the beginning and not to wait until hitting some future financial benchmark, because there would always be something else that could be prioritized, and the bar would continue to move.
Whatever your contribution — monetary donations, pro bono work, or volunteer hours — incorporate it from the beginning, regardless of how much you make. It then scales with your personal success.
It’s the kind of impact the Consulting By Numbers team would like to help your small business realize.
The Consulting By Numbers team works with entrepreneurs to land on a “comfortable” percentage of their income to give back to the community and causes that matter to them. Charitable giving helps companies connect, network, and grow roots in their communities.
“It’s not just about being a good business, it’s about being good for the world,” Carissa said.
